So what did you think about the KPFA piece?

What have you seen?  How do you think race is playing in the race?

  1. Good comments today on the KPFA piece. I especially liked how you explained McCain’s response to the .. he’s not Muslim / terrorist piece, how it leaves intact the racist word-thought structures.

  2. Good points made this morning. I think you’re right on about the “he’s so eloquent” line McCain is using but I think this is going to be very difficult for some folk to understand how it is being used to mark surprise or exception. What is so difficult about stopping dog whistle racism is that the history of these usages have been effectively hidden/erased/subdued with the advocacy of “post-race success.” The real challenge I think is how to expose the sedimented racism in an environment that is becoming more hostile about talking about racism.
